Governor Orders State Flags Lowered On Capitol Grounds In Recognition Of Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Gov. Joe Manchin has ordered all State flags located on the State Capitol grounds to be flown at half-staff the entire day of Sunday, October 11, in observance of Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day.
“Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day is a day to say thanks to our brave firefighters and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” Gov. Joe Manchin said. “We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to all of the men and women in uniform who work tirelessly to protect and serve us. Fire responders truly put a great deal on the line to ensure our safety day in and day out, and I applaud their outstanding dedication.”
More than 10,000 career and volunteer firefighters give their time, energy and expertise to save lives and property throughout West Virginia.
