Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative
The goal of APPI is to reduce the number of pregnancies among adolescent through improved decision making, abstinence, or access to contraceptive services. This statewide initiative provides Pregnancy Prevention Specialists who work to increase public awareness of problems associated with early sexual activity and childbearing and collaborate with existing community organizations to promote local activities for adolescent pregnancy prevention.

Adopt a WV Child
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (WVDHHR) provides this information for those families who plan to adopt a child who is in Foster Care in West Virginia.

Birth Score
The Birth Score Program is dedicated to the identification of infants who are at greatest risk for health and developmental problems, and ensuring that these children have access to appropriate health and special care systems, are ongoing concerns for state health officials.

Birth to Three
WV Birth to Three is a statewide system of services and supports for children under age three who have a delay in their development, or may be at risk of having a delay, and their family. The Department of Health and Human Resources, through the Bureau for Public Health and the Office of Maternal, Child and Family Health, WV Birth to Three, as the lead agency for Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), assures that family centered, community based services are available to all eligible children and families.

Right From the Start Program
Having a new baby can be one of the most rewarding times of your life, but it can also be one of the most challenging. Having someone to talk to during your pregnancy and/or after you have your baby can make this time easier. You can have a local community nurse or social worker, called a "care coordinator", meet with you while you are pregnant to help you learn ways to have a healthy pregnancy. The care coordinator can help you find resources in your community to help with your needs.

Stop the Hurt: A Handbook for Victims of Family Violence
This handbook was a result of the collaboration with the West Virginia Women’s Commission, West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, West Virginia Department of Education, The Legal Aid Society of Charleston, and West Virginia Legal Aid Services.

West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program
The West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program (WVBCCSP) is a comprehensive public health program that helps uninsured or underinsured women gain access to breast and cervical cancer screening services. Screening and early detection reduces death rates, improves treatment options, and greatly increases survival.

WIC Benefits
WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. WIC was established in 1972, as a pilot project following a national survey that found anemia and inadequate growth to be common among American children in low-income families.
