BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. – Beech Fork State Park is gearing up for the 2010 “Heron Fest” to be held on Saturday, Oct. 9. This fall festival offers free fun and entertainment for the entire family. Magic, arts and crafts, food, hayrides, boat rides, will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 7 p.m. Other events will include a camper display by Setzer’s Camper Sales, pumpkin decorating contest, food and craft vendors, gospel sing, and Smokey Bear. There is no charge to attend Heron Fest and the activities are open to the public.
“New events this year will be apple butter making by local BSA Troop #63 and dancing by the Porter Creek Cloggers,” according to Park Supt. Matt Yeager. Individuals setting up as flea market vendors may register at the park office and set up for free for the day. “Antique car, unique car, or motorcycle owners also are invited to show their vehicles and participate in our car show display.”
Beech Fork State Park is located near Barboursville and features a 275-site campground, vacation cabins, picnicking, hiking and seasonal outdoor swimming.
