West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture Gus R. Douglass is warning consumers of a recall announced Friday by Flowers Foods that some of its bread products possibly distributed in West Virginia might contain small pieces of metal.
“We want to let consumers know of this recall in case they may have these products in their homes,” said Commissioner Douglass. “Our regulatory personnel will be on the lookout for any recalled products on store shelves."
No injuries have been reported, according to Flowers Foods. The majority of the product involved was still in Flowers’ possession and has been pulled from the company’s distribution system. As an extra precaution, Flowers issued the voluntary recall and is proceeding to retrieve all affected product from the market. Grocers are advised to withdraw these products for sale and hold it for pickup by the company. Consumers should return these products with the best by date/UPC codes noted to the place of purchase for product replacement or refund.
