 Amphitheater shows at Chief Logan State Park feature family favorites

LOGAN, W.Va. – Three summer theater productions will be performed at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater at Chief Logan State Park in 2011. Summer theater productions are performed by local singers, actors and actresses with shows scheduled Tuesday - Saturday nights from June 14 – Aug. 14.

“We have a good variety of entertaining shows for our park visitors, including Cinderella, The Aracoma Story, and Disney’s Jungle Book,” said Chief Logan State Park Supt. Bruce Collinsworth. “All are a pleasant way to spend a warm summer evening outdoors.”

The box office opens nightly at 7:30 p.m. with box office tickets selling for $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $8 for children (3-12). Advance ticket prices for adults and seniors are reduced by $1. Advance ticket sales are available by phone order and are taken Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. by calling 304-752-0253.

Seating is general admission. Group ticket sales seating and accessible seating are available. The theater is a smoke-free facility and is wheelchair accessible.

Chief Logan State Park features traditional park activities including camping, hiking, picnicking, biking and fishing in addition to the amphitheater shows and the Museum in the Park. Chief Logan Lodge, nearby, offers upscale lodging, restaurant and conference services. Cinderella

The beloved fairy tale comes to life on our stage as Cinderella triumphs over her nasty stepmother and stepsisters. Thanks to a fairy godmother, a trip to the royal ball in an enchanted coach, and a glass slipper, Cinderella marries her Prince Charming and they live happily ever after. This musical production is filled with family fun!

The Aracoma Story - Spirits and Legends

Logan County, W.Va., lays claim to one of America's most romantic legends, the story of Princess Aracoma, Boling Baker, and the Shawnee People who settled in the Logan region. The modern version of the classic story blends tales of the Shawnee People with the story of young love between an Indian princess and a British soldier. The Aracoma Story - Spirits and Legends version debuted in 2009.

Disney's the Jungle Book KIDS

The Jungle is jumpin' with jazz again this summer with the return of Disney's The Jungle Book KIDS! Due to the short one-week run last summer, which attracted hundreds nightly, the show has returned with its colorful characters and toe-tapping jungle rhythms. Specially adapted from the beloved Disney film, this musical includes all your favorite Disney tunes, like "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wanna Be Like You." With familiar characters and that toe-tapping jungle rhythm, The Jungle Book Kids is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for audiences of all ages!
