GRAFTON, W.Va. – The restaurant at Tygart Lake State Park near Grafton is now a Boston Beanery Restaurant & Tavern. Food service and catering at the lodge is managed by a concessionaire, and the Tygart Lake restaurant is now one of five Boston Beanery locations.
“Our restaurant doesn’t overlook the Boston Harbor, but it does look out over the marina at Tygart Lake," said Brennon O’Sullivan, Tygart Lake State Park superintendent.
The Boston Beanery Restaurant & Tavern concept was founded in Morgantown in 1983.
"The restaurants are patterned after old Boston pubs form the 1800s, which at that time were called Beaneries," explained Ken Cole, CEO of the Boston Beanery. “We have five restaurant locations in Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. We’re delighted to be part of Tygart Lake State Park’s operations and look forward to attracting customers to the park and to the Taylor county/Grafton area. It’s a great location to enjoy the outdoors, the lake and a good meal.”
Cole was the successful bidder for the food service contact at Tygart Lake Lodge effective April 15, 2011.
Tygart Lake State Park lodge, cabins, campground and restaurant opened for the 2011 season in April. The park features a 20-room lake view lodge, 11 vacation cabins, a 40-site campground, a marina, a lake for fishing and boating, hiking trails and special events and activities.
The menu is extensive. Grilled sandwiches, hand-battered seafood, fresh (never frozen) Angus steaks, and Beanery signature marinated chicken entrees are items Cole readily mentions. Guests to Tygart will also enjoy combo platters, club sandwiches, a variety of specialty pizzas, seafood entrees, and signature pasta dishes. The restaurant hours are Sunday – Thursday from 8 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until midnight.
The Boston Beanery Restaurant will feature a Mother's Day Brunch from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on May 8. After 2 p.m. visitors may order from the regular menu.
