Huntington, W.Va. -- Foresters from 20 states and Canada will meet in Huntington next week for the joint conference of the Southern Forest Nursery Association and the Northeastern Forest and Conservation Nursery Association.
The event will be held July 25-28 at the Pullman Plaza Hotel.
Huntington Mayor Kim Wolfe will welcome the group at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26. Other speakers will focus on topics including the future of state nurseries, the use of herbicides for weed control, the latest research on American chestnut and tree-planting efforts on post-mined land. Seminars will be held from 8 -11 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and participants will visit nursery locations and other sites in the afternoons. The conference concludes on Thursday, July 28, with indoor presentations from 8 a.m. - noon.
The conference is jointly sponsored by the West Virginia Division of Forestry, the Kentucky Division of Forestry and the USDA Forest Service’s Reforestation, Nurseries and Genetic Resources Program.
