 Country Western Weekend at Pipestem State Park Jan. 21-23

PIPESTEM, W.Va. – Country Western flair is the focus for activities planned at Pipestem State Park Jan. 21-23, 2011. Doug and Donna Riley serve as instructors for the annual dance weekend that includes Country Western Cha Cha and Waltz, West Coast Swing, line dancing, and free style dance.

The Country Western Line Dance, Couples, and Fixed Partner Dancing weekend package includes accommodations at Pipestem’s McKeever Lodge on Friday and Saturday nights, Saturday dinner, and all dance instruction and dances scheduled for the weekend.

About the Instructors:

Doug and Donna Riley reside in Augusta County in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Doug is the owner and operator of a 500-acre beef cattle, sheep, and poultry farm. Donna is the Director of Children and Youth Ministries at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church and has served as a choir director and church organist for 38 years.

The Rileys have always enjoyed dancing and, along with their children, became members of the Rhythm Squares Dancers in 1992. When a local dance studio opened in their community, Doug and Donna joined the staff, teaching weekly lessons for line dancing and couples dancing.

The Rileys were co-chairs of the Country Western Hall at the 2010 National Convention and plan to continue those duties through 2013. They also served on the staff for the 2010 National Singles Dance-a-Rama in Washington, D.C., have participated in dance demos presented at the 1997 and 1998, 2005, and 2007 Virginia Square Dance Conventions, and served as instructors in 2005-2009. Doug and Donna served as Chairpersons of the Virginia C/W Hall in 2007-2009. The Rileys have served various leadership roles Indiana, Ohio and Texas dance conventions.

Doug and Donna dance with the Circle 8 Square Dance Club in Waynesboro, Va., and are members of the Shenandoah Valley Callers and Cuers Council (SVCC), Virginia Callers Association (VASCA), and the American Callers Association (ACA). They are BMI/ASCAP licensed.
