CHARLESTON, W.Va. The West Virginia Division of Forestry seeks one talented fourth-grader and one talented fifth-grader to be named winners in the 2012 West Virginia Arbor Day Poster Contest. This year's theme is 'Where Do I Belong?'
The contest is open to public, private and home schooling teachers in the Mountain State. The winning students each will receive a $50 U.S. Savings Bond from the West Virginia Forestry Association. An awards ceremony will be held at the schools they attend and a tree will be planted in their honor.
"This year¹s theme is about planting the right tree in the right place," said Andy Sheetz of the Division of Forestry. "West Virginia has a variety of beautiful trees that serve numerous purposes. The poster contest is an opportunity for kids to learn what trees grow best in what type of environment, and to have fun learning."
Contest submissions are being accepted now through March 1, 2012.
