Twin Falls State Park Hosts “Dream of Murder” Mystery Feb. 26

2/3/2011

MULLENS, W.Va. – An evening of songs and shenanigans will entertain visitors as Twin Falls State Park presents Dream of Murder, an audience participation murder mystery presented by The In Cahoots Players of Fayetteville.

“During the dinner and play, the audience will solve the murder and rescue some bad hair-dos,” according to Ken Vance, event coordinator. “After the first act, the audience will have the chance to interrogate the suspects and guess who committed the nefarious crime of murder.”

Twin Falls will present this hilarious show on Saturday, Feb. 26. The performance will begin between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Tickets are $38 per person and includes dinner and the show. Overnight lodge and cabin packages are available. For more information or to reserve tickets, call the front desk or Ken Vance at 304-294-4000.

About the play

Dream of Murder takes place as an annual Telethon to benefit S.N.O.R.E , the Society for the Narcolepsy of Restorative Engineers (aka beauty technologists). A concert and fundraising event is presented to raise awareness and find a cure for this heartbreaking and hair raising illness. And, it affects us all…just think what happens when your beautician or cosmetologist succumbs to the sleep of Narcolepsy. The results can be devastating – but not as devastating as this telethon because a killer lurks in night.

The In Cahoots Players

The troupe features talented actors and actresses from southern West Virginia. Collectively, they have performed in a number of plays, musicals and murder mysteries throughout the region. While they all have full-time careers and commitments, they are by no means amateur performers. Their stage presence, lively and spontaneous banter and quick replies make for a hilarious evening of entertainment. The chief Cahoot is Karen Vuranch, who writes, directs and produces the plays through her theatre company WV Enterprises. Karen is a professional storyteller, actress and writer and performs these plays as well as historical dramas throughout West Virginia and the U.S.

The musical direction for the play is provided by Merry Hanning of Oak Hill. Her lovely voice is well known throughout the region and she has extensive stage experience. The In Cahoots Players also feature Debbie Cooper and Sandi Shrewsbury, both of Beckley; Ansted resident Cathy Teubert; Julie Brown of Packs Branch, Andrea Fout-Tinsley of Charlton Heights and Jen Garvin of Fayetteville. Together, they create an evening of comical entertainment and beautiful music.

Dream of Murder is the newest production of The In Cahoots Players. The “dreamy” music they sing includes “All I Have to Do is Dream,” “Dream A Little Dream of Me,” “Dream Baby” and more. In fact, all of the murder mysteries presented by The In Cahoots Players are musical. Other story lines include A Country Music Murder featuring songs from the Queens of Country such as Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette, Beach Blanket Bump-Off, a Caribbean theme, A Groovy Kind of Murder with songs from the 1960’s and Music, Mayham and Murder, a 1950’s girl group.
