8/26/2014

HardyGov. Earl Ray Tomblin today joined American Woodmark Corporation in announcing a major expansion of the company's Moorefield, West Virginia cabinet-manufacturing facility. American Woodmark will add 80 new jobs and 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space at the Moorefield operation. The $30 million project will increase the Moorefield center's workforce to more than 650 employees.

"This expansion highlights the competitive edge that's attracting more and more businesses to West Virginia," said Gov. Tomblin. "American Woodmark is a great example of a national company that's succeeding in our state's vastly improved business climate. With today's announcement, 80 additional hardworking West Virginia families will enjoy the benefits of steady, good-paying jobs with a first-rate employer."

"The housing sector continues on its journey towards full recovery. Our decision to expand our capacity is a statement of optimism and confidence in the market, our people and the value proposition of our brands," said Cary Dunston, President and COO of American Woodmark.

State and local officials have been in discussions with the company regarding the expansion since last year.   "I want to thank American Woodmark for continuing to expand its footprint in West Virginia," Gov. Tomblin said. "I also want to thank the West Virginia Development Office and the Hardy County Rural Development Authority for their hard work on this project."

American Woodmark Corporation is a leading manufacturer and distributor of kitchen cabinets and vanities for the remodeling and new-home-construction markets. Its products are sold nationwide at home centers and a network of independent dealers and distributors, as well as directly to major builders. In addition to the Hardy County facility, the company operates eight other manufacturing centers and nine builder-service centers across the country.
