CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today announced the appointment of Mark Matkovich as Acting State Tax Commissioner, effective May 15, 2013.
"With his vast knowledge and experience, Mark will be a tremendous asset to the State Tax Department," Gov. Tomblin said. "I'm pleased Mark has accepted this opportunity and I look forward to working with him."
Beginning his career in government in 1996, Matkovich has served as the City Attorney for Beckley, staff attorney for the West Virginia Senate, and General Counsel to the Senate Majority Leader. In his most recent position, Matkovich served as General Counsel to the Cabinet Secretary for the Department of Revenue.
Matkovich earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Albright College and his law degree from the University of New Hampshire.
He and his wife, Karen, reside in Hurricane.
