Governor Tomblin Today Signs HB 2464 Amending the States Ethics Act
4/4/2011
CHARLESTON, W.Va.-Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin signed HB 2464, amending the state's Ethics Act, today.
"I am so pleased that the legislature was able to work out the differences between the two chambers and pass this important piece of legislation," said Gov. Tomblin. "It was my hope that I would receive a bill that would enhance and further clarify the ethical standards and expectations for those in state government."
This bill amends the Ethics Act requiring public servants and their spouses to disclose additional information, including certain spousal information, on financial disclosure statements. In addition, the Ethics Commission may publish, and make available, a list of those public servants who are delinquent in filing their financial statements. HB 2464 also changes the required wait time to one year before a public employee or servant can leave state government and register as a lobbyist.
