CHARLESTON, W.Va. -Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today announced an open invitation to all West Virginians to join him Sunday, November 13, 2011 for an inaugural ceremony where he will be sworn in as the 35th Governor of West Virginia.
"Joanne and I are truly humbled and deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of our great state," Gov. Tomblin said. "I am honored to take the oath of Governor and hope West Virginians from all corners of the state join us Sunday."
General seating will open at 2:00 p.m. on the South Plaza at the State Capitol in Charleston. The inaugural ceremony will begin at 3 p.m.
The ceremony will include performances by the 249th West Virginia Army National Guard Band, Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., and the Parkersburg High School Chamber Choir. West Virginia Adjutant General Major General James Hoyer, The Honorable Margaret Workman, Chief Justice, of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia, and U.S. Senator Joe Manchin III will join Governor Tomblin and participate during the ceremony.
Following the conclusion of the inaugural ceremony, the first family will receive guests and greet friends during a public reception at 4:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Culture Center.
