CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Gov. Tomblin today announced that, following the Secretary of State's confirmation that all counties have completed the canvassing and certification process required by law, he will issue a proclamation calling the Legislature into extraordinary session at noon, Sunday, November 13, 2011, for the purpose of certifying the results of the October 4th special gubernatorial election. Following the Legislature's certification, Tomblin will be sworn in as Governor of West Virginia, at 3:00 p.m. on the afternoon of the 13th.
"I am honored to have this opportunity to continue to lead West Virginia," Gov. Tomblin said.
The swearing in of Gov. Tomblin will take place at the State Capitol in Charleston, West Virginia. Additional details will be forthcoming.
Gov. Tomblin has been acting as governor since Nov. 15, 2010, when then-Gov. Joe Manchin resigned upon his election to the U.S. Senate. A new election required by the West Virginia Constitution for the remainder of former-Gov. Manchin's unexpired term was held on October 4, 2011.
