Governor Welcomes New Plant Manager at DuPont
1/27/2011
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Governor Earl Ray Tomblin issued a statement today following DuPont’s announcement that the Belle, West Virginia location will be lead by new plant manager Jim O’Connor and will hire 150 employees over the coming years to replace soon-to-be retirees.
“DuPont has been a good corporate citizen to the Kanawha Valley and I look forward to working with Mr. O’Connor as he assumes his new role,” Gov. Tomblin said. “In addition, DuPont’s decision to retain 150 positions upon the retirement of its current employees is a validation of our educated and talented workforce. I cannot underscore enough, the importance of DuPont’s commitment to West Virginia and of having these opportunities right here at home.”
DuPont anticipates the hiring need to arise as their experienced workers begin to retire in the next few years.
Mr. O’Connor joined DuPont in 1981 and has vast experience in plant management and safety. The Ohio native and his family have settled in the Kanawha Valley.
