Kanawha State Forest roads closed for culvert repair June 9
CHARLESTON, West Virginia – Roads through Kanawha State Forest will be closed temporarily June 9, 2014, while two large culverts are replaced by West Virginia Paving Company. Forest roads will be closed beginning early Monday and will reopen late in the day following installation.
“Visitors using the Charleston entrance will be able to access the shooting range, pond and office during the culvert replacement,” said Kanawha State Forest Asst. Supt. Kevin Dials. “The Hernshaw entrance will be closed to traffic and the swimming pool, campground and other facilities between the Hernshaw entrance and the forest office will not be accessible during the installation process.”
The contractor has worked with the forest superintendents to schedule this work on a day with low visitation to reduce the potential inconvenience for forest visitors. To learn more about Kanawha State Forest, facilities and activities, visit www.kanawhastateforest.com
