CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Small business owners can meet one-on-one with financial lenders in a matchmaking session set for Wednesday, June 15, at the Holiday Inn, 301 Foxcroft Avenue, Martinsburg.
The matchmaking sessions are designed for entrepreneurs looking for funds to start, expand or sustain a business. Business owners can sign up to meet one-on-one with financial backers for 10 minutes during the morning session from 8 a.m. to noon, or afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The participation fee is $20. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
For more information on the Martinsburg event, contact Karen Jones, Women's Business & Training Center, 800-766-4556 or register online at

The event is sponsored by West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WVSBDC), U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE and Women’s Business & Training Center.
Similar to “speed dating” for business, the entrepreneurs and lenders meet privately for 10 minutes. The entrepreneur presents his or her funding proposal to the lender, then moves on to the next lender to repeat the process. Lenders then set up interviews with entrepreneurs whose proposals best fit their lending interests and capabilities.
Upcoming borrower-lender matchmaking sessions are scheduled for:
Friday, June 24, Robert H. Mollohan Research Center, Fairmont
Friday, Aug. 12, Holiday Inn Express, Barboursville
Friday, Sept. 23, Tamarack Conference Center, Beckley
Wednesday, Sept. 28, West Virginia Northern Community College, Wheeling
The SBDC is part of the West Virginia Development Office. With locations throughout the state, WVSBDC provides small businesses and entrepreneurs with cost-effective business coaching and services to help them start, grow and maintain businesses.
