Charleston, W.Va. – Small business owners can meet one-on-one with financial lenders in a matchmaking session set for Friday, May 20, at the Holiday Inn Express, 3551 Rt. 60 East in Barboursville.
The meeting is first in a series of matchmaking events sponsored by West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WVSBDC), U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE and Women’s Business & Training Center.
Businesses can sign up for the Group 1 meeting from 8 a.m. to noon, or Group 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The participation fee is $20. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
For more information on the Barboursville event, contact Karen Jones, Women's Business & Training Center, 800-766-4556 or register online at

The matchmaking sessions are designed for entrepreneurs looking for funds to start, expand or sustain a business. Similar to “speed dating” for businesses, entrepreneurs and lenders meet one-on-one in 10-minute sessions. The entrepreneur presents his or her funding proposal to the lender, then moves on to the next lender to repeat the process. Lenders then set up interviews with entrepreneurs whose proposals best fit their lending interests and capabilities.
Upcoming borrower-lender matchmaking sessions are scheduled for:
Wednesday, June 15, Holiday Inn Express, Martinsburg
Friday, June 24, Robert H. Mollohan Research Center, Fairmont
Friday, Sept. 23, Tamarack Conference Center, Beckley
Wednesday, Sept. 28,
West Virginia Northern Community College, Wheeling
