As a community service, Love Christian Assembly has, for the past few years, sponsored a New Year’s Eve event in the public parking lot of downtown Petersburg. This year’s alcohol-free event will feature a money booth full of prizes, a bounce house for children, skee ball machines, horse-drawn sleigh rides, live music, and a 20x30 foot screen that will show the ball drop live from New York City and a display of fireworks at midnight. Frozen Sasquatch 25K & 50K Run: Jan. 8, Kanawha State Forest, Charleston
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Frozen Sasquatch Trail 50K/25K. The race is a 15.8 mile loop (50K runners do two loops) and will take place on some of the best trails in Kanawha State Forest. The race starts at 8 a.m. in the parking lot near the swimming pool and is limited to 150 registrants. The time limit to complete the course is 8 1/2 hrs for both distances. Packets may be picked up at the pool shelter between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday night or 6:30 am and 7:30 a.m. race day.
