Kingwood, W.Va. – Finding a West Virginia-grown forest product or a company that makes one is as easy as logging onto www.hardwoodswv.com.
The Division of Forestry and the Department of Commerce have created a new online resource that displays more than two dozen categories of forest products companies, including architectural millworks, cabinetmakers, dry kilns, firewood producers, furniture makers, moldings/millworks, rail fencing and sawmills.
“The goals behind the online Forest Products Directory are to help increase business to West Virginia forest products companies and to make residents aware of the high-quality wood products available to them locally,” said Matt Borror, forest products utilization and marketing specialist for the Division of Forestry.
Currently, the directory lists names and contact information for more than 150 companies, and updates are made on a weekly or biweekly basis. In addition to facilities like sawmills and cabinet shops, the directory also lists companies where specialty wood like curly maple, burled cherry, figured walnut and quarter-sawn sycamore are commonly found.
If you are an owner of a forest products company in West Virginia and would like your information listed in the directory, contact Borror by phone at 304.380.2413 or email
