CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Small Business Development Center (WVSBDC) is introducing a new training and business coaching program to help entrepreneurs and small business owners receive the right information at the right time.
The new program, Three Step Jump Start, helps entrepreneurs and small business owners in West Virginia accelerate their potential success by learning the structure and services provided by WVSBDC. This first step is accomplished by viewing a video located on the agency’s web site,
www.wvsbdc.org.
Each individual then receives essential information for starting, planning or refreshing a business by attending one of two specifically designed WVSBDC workshops held monthly in each region of the state. The first workshops begin this month.
The Fundamentals Workshop is specifically designed for those who are thinking of starting a business, or have had a business for one year or less. The workshop provides essential information for what an entrepreneur needs to know to successfully start a business.
The Sustainable Growth workshop is for existing and mature businesses. The workshop provides essential information for what a business owner needs to know to build, expand or refresh a business.
Upon completion of the workshop, an individual may choose to schedule an appointment with WVSBDC for one-on-one coaching sessions. An individual might also decide, as a result of what has been learned, to delay starting a business or perhaps come to the conclusion that it is not the right career choice.
WVSBDC coaching sessions can assist with important services like business plan development, financial statement preparation and cash flow analysis, among many other small business needs.
WVSBDC is also introducing new initiatives for providing technical assistance for West Virginia entrepreneurs and researchers that have an idea for a technology-based product, service or process. Opportunities are explored where innovation is a catalyst for new products and services that have a positive economic impact for the state.

The WVSBDC is part of the West Virginia Development Office and creates economic impact through offering entrepreneurs and small businesses cost-effective business coaching and technical assistance. The West Virginia SBDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
