Beckley, W.Va. - The West Virginia Division of Forestry will conduct a public tour at Greenbrier State Forest on Saturday, April 2, 2011. This is an informational tour for the public to learn about plans for a prescribed timber harvest on Laurel Branch in the southeast section of the forest.
The tour begins at 10 a.m.; participants should arrive at the Greenbrier State Forest office prior to 10 a.m. Forestry officials encourage anyone attending to bring substantial footwear, clothing appropriate for the weather, snacks and water.
The tour involves a .5- to 1-mile hike on uneven ground in the woods.
There are no trails, but some old roads are involved. Expect hills along the tour path.
