 Registration Underway for September Series of OSHA Training Classes

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Labor has scheduled Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training and compliance classes in September.

Workers with current health and safety training certification can enhance their value on the job or improve their marketability in their field. OSHA requires employers to provide employees with health and safety training relevant to their job duties.

Tuition assistance is available for participants drawing unemployment compensation. For details, call the Women’s Business & Training Center at 304-253-3145 in advance.

The September classes offered through the state Division of Labor are:

10-Hour General Industry, Aug. 31- Sept. 1, Ripley. The two-day seminar covers general industry safety and health topics for workers of all levels. Subjects include Personal Protective Equipment, Materials Handling Machine Guarding and more. Participants who successfully complete the class will receive a certificate and a 10-hour OSHA card.

10-Hour Construction, Sept. 6 – 7, Ripley. The session covers construction safety and health topics for workers of all levels. Topics include fall protection, scaffolding, electrical and more. Participants who successfully complete the class will receive a certificate and a 10-hour OSHA card.

30-Hour OSHA Construction, Sept. 20 – 22, Ripley. The seminar is open only to those who have completed the 10-hour construction safety class within the last six months. Topics include lifesaving equipment; fire prevention; materials handling; power tools; scaffolds and more. Participants who successfully complete the class will receive a certificate and a 30-hour OSHA card.

In October, the Department of Labor has scheduled 10-hour construction workers safety health training in Morgantown, 10-hour general industry in Huntington and 10-hour construction workers safety health training in Lewisburg.
