 Shady Road Cools IR Bowlers at Cacapon State Park Event, July 23

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. – An Irish road bowling event is set at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23 at Cacapon Resort State Park, with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m. Participants and spectators are welcome to stay after the regular event to watch the new men's singles match, with some of the top bowlers in West Virginia. Irish road bowling is a free game for all ages.

The single league play begins at 12:30 p.m. with two three-handed scores featuring Ken McClintic vs. John Nelson v. Clifton Colebank. McClintic is superintendent at Holly River State Park and a two-time WVIRBA State Champion. A second team of Stephan Wallington vs. Richard Meece v. Tom Neville is also featured.

“The cool shady road in the woods at Cacapon is a great road bowling site,” says David Powell, with the West Virginia Irish Road Bowling Association. “It is an excellent course for beginners as well as league bowlers.”

Additional Irish Road Bowling events are scheduled at these West Virginia state parks: Oct. 8, Holly River State Park Fall Challenge, Hacker Valley, W.Va.; Oct. 22 Chief Logan State Park, Logan, W.Va., and Nov. 6 at Stonewall Resort, the Yankee Skedaddle, Stonewall Resort, Roanoke, W.Va.
