SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The 2010 award-winning, full-color calendar published by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, has been recognized for excellence by receiving the 2010 Silver Award in a national calendar contest.
The annual contest, sponsored by the Calendar Marketing Association, featured hundreds of calendars from all over the country competing in a variety of categories. Awards were based on the superiority of the artwork, readability and information quality and originality. The DNR’s calendar received a Silver Award in the “most informative wall calendar, retail” division.
According to Curtis I. Taylor, Chief of the DNR Wildlife Resources Section, the calendar’s combination of original, creative artwork and well-written information earned it this prestigious award. “Besides the beautiful paintings by West Virginians and other nationally acclaimed artists, our calendar contains informative articles, best fishing days and times, and daily facts along with hunting, fishing and trapping regulations,” he said.
The W.Va. DNR Wildlife Calendar has been published since 1985 and is sold throughout the state, country and internationally. It can be purchased at all DNR district offices, newsstands, convenience marts and food stores statewide.
The new 2011 Wildlife Calendar, featuring a majestic bald eagle on the cover, promises to be even better with more extraordinary artwork and informative articles. It will be available for sale by late October. The price is $10 each, plus $4 shipping and handling. (W.Va. residents add $.60 sales tax for each calendar purchased.)
