W.Va. State Parks Gift Cards Have “Something Extra” If Purchased by Dec. 17

11/29/2010

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. –State Park gift cards continue to be popular gift options for the holiday season and special occasions, and this year they come with “Something Extra.” To receive this special Christmas season promotion, gift cards must be purchased online at www.wvstateparks.com or by telephone by Dec. 17 in the amount of $100 or more. Each $100 amount will receive nine parks-related coupons, which, if redeemed, are valued at more than $125.

The extras cover an array of offers, including a second night free at North Bend, Hawks Nest or Cacapon; a third night free at Beech Fork, Pipestem or Watoga campgrounds in the spring; $5 off train fare at Cass Scenic Railroad; a “Sweet $16” off coupon at Chief Logan Lodge; an 18-hole greens fee at Twin Falls, Pipestem or Cacapon golf courses; free admission to the Blennerhassett Museum of Regional History, an aerial tram ride at Hawks Nest or Pipestem, free dessert offer at North Bend and a mystery gift card.

“People looking for special gifts find that West Virginia State Park Gift Cards get a nod and wink not only from Santa, but from the recipient as well,” said Carol Stewart, who manages the gift card program. “A state park gift card can be a vacation, a great meal at a park restaurant, a round or golf or a ride on the Cass Scenic Railroad. It’s not difficult at all to wrap up an 18-hole golf course or the whistle of a Shay locomotive when it’s a gift card,” said Stewart.

The state park gift card has no expiration date and is accepted at all state parks and forests for lodge room and cabin rentals, restaurants, golf play, wobble clay range at Cacapon, spa treatments at Berkeley Springs, gift shops and camping.

“What I think is great about the Something Extra cards is that you can include them with the gift card as part of a gift, give them to someone else, or keep them and use them yourself,” Stewart said.

Individual parks and forests sell gift cards year-round, but will not have the Something Extra cards to distribute. The Something Extra gift card promotion only applies to West Virginia State Park gift cards purchased online at www.wvstateparks.com or by phoning 304-558-2764 from now through Dec. 17, 2010. The Something Extra promotion does not apply to previous card purchases or redemptions. For more information, go online, www.wvstateparks.com or call 304-558 2764.
