 Tourism Day at the Legislature Feb. 11 

2/5/2010  CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Mark your calendars now for Tourism Day at the Legislature. Join more than 80 exhibitors from across West Virginia on Thursday, Feb. 11 at the State Capitol to learn more about their significant impact on West Virginia’s tourism industry. 

Representatives and vendors from various tourism-related businesses will take part in this crowd-favorite event scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and second floors of the Capitol. Many exhibitors will provide giveaways and refreshments.

In addition to exhibits and opportunities to speak with industry experts, the West Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association will host a legislative reception at the Culture Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Grand Hall. This annual event helps increase awareness of the economic impact the tourism industry has on the state of West Virginia.  A 2008 study conducted by Dean Runyan Associates indicate that West Virginia’s travel and tourism industry generated $4.38 billion to the state’s economy and employed 44,000 people. In addition, approximately $591 million in state and local tax revenues were collected.
