South Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Division of Tourism has partnered with the Bridge Day Committee to offer live streaming of BASE jumpers on Bridge Day this weekend.
The video will be broadcast on Tourism’s website, www.wvtourism.com
, and on the event’s website, www.officialbridgeday.com
from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., during the 33rd annual Bridge Day on Saturday, Oct. 20.
“Bridge Day is the largest extreme sports event in the world and draws thousands of visitors to the New River Gorge,” said Tourism Commissioner Betty Carver. “For those not able to attend this year’s event, we are excited to offer live footage of all the fun.”
Bridge Day marks the only day of the year when it is legal to walk across the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayette County. The event features food, vendors and excitement as hundreds of BASE jumpers and rappellers dare to parachute or hang 876 feet above the whitewater of the New River, the oldest river in North America.
