CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The 2nd annual Little Princess Ball is set for Jan. 8 at North Bend State Park. The event is designed for little girls dressing up, enjoying dinner and dancing at with the person who will always see her as his little princess regardless of age – Dad. The themed evening is all about girls ages 5-12. The evening includes dinner, dancing, art and crafts, crafting with other attendees while Dad has a break, and a great time.
“Last year’s Princess Weekend was an amazing evening” says Kristi Steed. “Some dads escorted two daughters. Some dads wore tuxedos and some dressed casual. The young ladies wore party dresses as well as special outfits or their favorite jeans. The ‘girl’s rule’ is you wear what makes you feel like a princess at North Bend’s Little Princess Ball.”
Paul Redford, district administrator for state park lodges, attended last year with his two daughters. “It is simply a great evening and time spent with my daughters. The food, meeting other dads and children, the dance and decorations exceed expectations. Our children grow up fast – boys and girls – and the opportunity to have memorable times together is a rare treat for most dads.”
Redford supports organization of events and activities like the Little Princess Ball to encourage families to visit parks and spend time together. “Our parks with lodges offer a nice variety of family-oriented programs.”
North Bend staff turns the conference room into a ballroom for the Jan. 8 event. The event package includes dinner for father and daughter. There will be two seatings: one at 4:30 p.m. and another at 5:30 p.m.; the menu will offer classic entree favorites for dad and for daughter. A craft room is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Memory photos are taken of each couple from 6 to 7 p.m. The Little Princess Ball is from 7 to 9 p.m. V96.0’s Jack Horton will provide the music.
One night’s lodging at North Bend, as well as the meal, photo, crafts, dance and refreshments, is $110 total for a father and daughter, $30 for each additional child. Prices include all taxes and gratuities. An evening-only rate that does not include lodging also is available. Reservations are required and available by calling, North Bend State Park at 304-643-2931.
