MANCHIN STAFF MEMBER TO LEAVE THE GOVERNOR’S OFFICE FOR PRIVATE SECTOR

8/9/2010

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Gov. Joe Manchin today announced that Scott Cosco, director of intergovernmental affairs and constituent services for the Governor’s Office, will step down from his duties on August 13. Cosco will become the manager of government and regulatory affairs at Frontier Communications in West Virginia.

Jennifer Ferrell, who has served as the deputy director of constituent services for the Governor’s Office, will replace Cosco as acting director. Ferrell has served for more than a decade in the constituent services division.

“Scott has worked with me for many years throughout my time in public office. He has done a tremendous job of helping citizens and has been a true asset to my administration,” the governor said. “I congratulate Scott on his new position with Frontier and wish him the best in the future.”

Cosco has been a part of the Manchin administration staff since the governor took office in 2005. In addition to making more than 2,100 appointments to boards and commissions for the governor, Cosco was named director of constituent services last September. From 2007-08, he also served as Manchin’s liaison to the National Governors Association and the Southern Governors Association. Cosco was also a member of Manchin’s staff during his term as secretary of state, serving as director of the West Virginia SHARES (Saving History and Reaching Every Student) Program.

“It has been an honor to serve the state under Governor Manchin. His leadership and dedication to the state of West Virginia and its people have taught me the importance and value of public service,” Cosco said. “I feel a great deal of satisfaction when I look back on the nine years that I have worked for this governor because I know how hard he has worked to improve West Virginia. However, it is now time for me to start a new chapter in my life, and I look forward to facing a new set of opportunities.”

Cosco earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Marshall University. He currently resides in Charleston.
