Governor's Job Fair Offers Information On State Government Careers

CHARLESTON, W.Va.Department of Administration officials announced today a series of  Governor's Job Fairs to be coordinated throughout the state, beginning later this month. These fairs will provide job seekers with information on employment opportunities within state government.

Gov. Joe Manchin III is scheduled to attend the first Governor's Job Fair on Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at the Fairmont Armory located at 1516 Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. On-site interviews will be conducted with candidates, with special focus on critical need positions, including but not limited to, health service workers, nurses, correctional officers and counselors, forensic analysts, law enforcement officers, equipment operators and engineering technicians. 

Representatives from all state departments will be present at all of the Governor's Job Fairs to guide interested candidates through the state employment process and to discuss employment opportunities and benefits. The Governor's Job Fairs are open to the public.

"As like other businesses, West Virginia state government wants to be proactive in our employment recruitment efforts," said Governor Manchin. "The Governor's Job Fairs will open the doors of opportunity to citizens throughout our state who may want to choose a career in public service with one of our many state agencies, in areas such as health care, education, technology, law enforcement and the environment."

Future locations for the Governor's Job Fairs include Wheeling, Martinsburg, Elkins, Huntington and Bluefield. All job fairs will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additional details on dates and locations are forthcoming.

Interested individuals are encouraged to bring their resume, proper identification and any other information they may wish to share with potential agency employers.
