Charleston, W.Va. – A West Virginia based company is looking to fill more than 60 new construction-based positions across West Virginia and other states, according to WORKFORCE West Virginia, an agency of the West Virginia Department of Commerce.
Paying $18-$20 per hour, these positions provide excellent benefits and per diems (which may include travel costs and room and board, depending upon the job site), as well as monthly incentive bonuses. In addition, the company will waiver its waiting period for benefits from 90 days to the first day of the month after employment.
Though based in Beckley, the company needs to fill positions throughout West Virginia and in neighboring states as well. Concentrated mainly in the energy and coal industries, the company is interested in individuals with experience as crane operators, pipe fitters, iron workers, millwrights, or field welders. Minimum years of experience, credentials and other requirements are included in the job descriptions.
Governor Manchin is strongly advocating West Virginians to apply, even those who have had to leave the state to find work elsewhere. “We want to fill these positions with as many West Virginians as possible,” said Gov. Manchin. “While we strongly encourage current residents to apply, we also would like to see former residents submit applications as well.”
The company has been collaborating with WORKFORCE West Virginia to find qualified candidates for the positions. Ron Radcliff, Executive Director of WORKFORCE West Virginia says, “This company is doing very well and has seen an increased workload; therefore, requiring it to hire more employees to meet demands. WORKFORCE West Virginia was set up to help businesses find the right people to fill jobs like this, and we are happy to help.”
Radcliff would like to see these jobs go to West Virginians and not be subcontracted out. “If the company cannot fill these vacancies with skilled West Virginia residents, it will have to subcontract, which will likely be with an out-of-state company. We certainly would rather have those jobs filled by West Virginians. We know they are available, we just have to make them aware that the positions are there.”
The Region 1 WORKFORCE West Virginia Career Center is managing this account. Interested candidates should contact the Beckley office at 304-256-6792.
