ROMNEY,
W.Va. –
West Virginia Project CommuniTree, a new initiative to promote urban tree planting, will hold an informational meeting on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ranson Parks and Recreation Center in Ranson.
The new chapter, which includes the counties of Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson, is currently seeking representatives from all those counties to serve on the board. Board members will participate in the planning and implementation of projects, and also will assist in planning a public education event in the fall. Individuals interested in participating or learning more about the program are invited to attend.
The goal of Project CommuniTree is to promote proper tree planting and care, and to address the needs of watersheds and riparian areas. Flowing Springs Park in Ranson has been selected to host the first project in 2009. Each year the program will sponsor a tree planting project within the chapter area.
The Ranson Parks and Recreation Center is located at 132 Athletic Way, behind the Potomac Marketplace on Route 9.
