 Forestry to hold public meeting at Coopers Rock State Forest

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Officials with the West Virginia Division of Forestry have scheduled a public meeting for Thursday, April 3, to present a draft recreation plan for Coopers Rock State Forest.  The public meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Westvaco Natural Resources Center, located on the West Virginia University Research Forest, north of Interstate 68.  Copies of the draft plan will be made available at the meeting, and forestry officials will be on hand to answer questions from the public. 

The draft plan currently is available for download from the Division of Forestry's Web site, www.wvforestry.com, or may be obtained by contacting the local forestry office at (304) 293-2941 ext. 2425.  The public also may pick up copies of the draft plan from the superintendent's office at Coopers Rock State Forest.  The staff of the superintendent's office asks that if you are planning to pick up a copy from them please call ahead at (304) 594-1561.

The Division of Forestry will accept written public comments until 5 p.m. on April 17.   All comments must either be mailed to Barbara Breshock, State Lands Manager, 330 Harper Park Drive, Suite J, Beckley, WV 25801, or faxed to Breshock's attention at (304) 256-6770. Only written comments/submissions will be accepted.

Directions to the Westvaco Natural Resources Center

Take Exit 15 (Coopers Rock Exit) of Interstate 68; County Route 73 south for ½ mile, turn left onto Sand Springs Road and go 1 ½ miles. The driveway for the center is on the left.
