Public Tour at Coopers Rock State Forest Scheduled for July 25

7/16/2009
BECKLEY, W.Va. – The West Virginia Division of Forestry will conduct a public tour at Coopers Rock State Forest at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009.  The tour will focus on a proposed project area, approximately 210 acres in size, south of I-68 on Coopers Rock State Forest.

“This proposed project is designed to help regenerate a variety of tree species, provide more diverse wildlife habitat and improve forest growth,” said State Lands Manager Barb Breshock.  “The tour will offer the public an opportunity to see the area and submit comments on the proposed project.”

Breshock advises anyone who plans to attend the tour to bring substantial footwear, weather- and briar-appropriate clothing, snacks and water.  The tour will involve a one- to two-mile hike on trails, old roads and uneven ground in the woods.  Breshock advises that there are some hills and briars along the tour route.
