 Public Tour at Kumbrabow State Forest Scheduled for Nov. 15

BECKLEY, W.Va. – The West Virginia Division of Forestry will conduct a public tour at Kumbrabow State Forest at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008.  The tour will take place in the forest’s southwestern section at the site of a planned timber harvest.  Those interested in attending should meet at the Kumbrabow State Forest office prior to 11 a.m. 

“This planned timber harvest will provide more diverse habitat for Kumbrabow’s wildlife and increase the forest’s growth potential,” said State Lands Manager Barb Breshock.  “The tour will give the public an opportunity to see the area and submit comments on the proposed harvest.”

Breshock advises anyone who plans to attend the tour to bring substantial footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, snacks and water.  The tour will involve a one-fourth to one-half mile hike over uneven ground in the woods, not on trails.
