FAIRMONT,
W.Va. – Forestry officials announced today that the West Virginia Division of Forestry (WVDOF) Region 1 headquarters is relocating from its current location in Fairmont to a new facility in Farmington.
The new office will be fully operational starting Monday, July 28, 2008.
State Forester Randy Dye said this relocation is good for the citizens of the area. “This consolidation of operations will be beneficial for the residents of Region 1 because the new Forestry office will be adjacent to the Division of Natural Resources District 1 office, thus allowing the public to visit two state agencies in one location,” he said.
Regional Forester Rudy Williams promises the new office will provide the same high level of service as the old one. “Although we are moving into a new office, the Region 1 headquarters will continue to provide the same professional service and information to the public as it has for so many years,” Williams said.
The headquarters’ new mailing address will be WVDOF Region 1, P.O. Box 40, Farmington, WV 26571; the physical address will change to 1106 Railroad Street, Farmington, WV 26571. The phone number will change to (304) 825-6983 and the fax number to (304) 825-6987. Both numbers will be operational starting July 28.
Region 1 personnel handle forest fire control, logging regulation and landowner assistance for 20 West Virginia counties: Barbour, Berkeley, Brooke, Grant, Hampshire, Hancock, Hardy, Harrison, Jefferson, Marion, Marshall, Mineral, Monongalia, Morgan, Ohio, Pendleton, Preston, Taylor, Tucker and Wetzel.
