CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A Montgomery woman signed a plea agreement on Aug. 26 before Kanawha County Circuit Judge Jim Stuckey in connection to charges stemming from a wildfire in Cabin Creek.
Amy Christine Slater, 41, was charged with one count of willfully, unlawfully and maliciously setting fires on lands of another. An investigation into the March 8 incident was conducted by the West Virginia Division of Forestry Investigation Unit with assistance from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
According to the plea agreement, Slater must serve three years' probation and pay restitution to the agency and the victim.
"Forestry Investigator John W. Bird was the lead investigator on this case," said Forestry Investigation Specialist Sam Butcher. "This positive outcome would not have been accomplished without his efforts or without the excellent working relationship the DOF shares with other agencies like the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department."
