CHARLESTON, W.Va -Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin issued a proclamation on Mar. 1, 2011 ordering all United States and State Flags displayed at state facilities throughout West Virginia to be lowered to half-staff in honor of World War I Veteran, Corporal Frank Woodruff Buckles.
Flags will remain at half-staff until Mar. 15 at sunset, the day of his interment at Arlington National Cemetery.
Visitation hours will take place, today, from noon to 9 p.m. at Joseph Gawler's Sons Chapel in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Buckles will lie in repose at Arlington's Memorial Amphitheater Chapel from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mar. 15 for the public to pay its last respects. The interment will be at 4 p.m.
A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. March 16 at Zion Episcopal Church in Charles Town, W.Va. for those who cannot attend the service at Arlington National Cemetery.
