 Governor Announces Grant Funding For Homeless Prevention And Rapid Re-Housing 

9/1/2009  CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Gov. Joe Manchin today awarded nearly $7,698,431 in Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing (HPRP) grants through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to 13 agencies throughout West Virginia. 

These funds will help provide direct financial assistance and case management services to eligible individuals or families who are at risk of being or are already homeless.  Financial assistance may be used for rent or utility payments or deposits, credit counseling, moving costs, and other costs associated with preventing a disruption in housing.  Case management and housing search and placement assistance will also be provided through these funds.   

The HPRP projects have been recommended for funding by the Governor’s Office for Economic Opportunity. These grants will be funded utilizing ARRA funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
