 Governor Announces VOCA American Recovery Act Grants Totaling $588,163 

6/12/2009  CHARLESTON – Gov. Joe Manchin today announced he has awarded nearly $600,000 in Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grants to 16 entities throughout West Virginia.

“These funds will help provide direct services, such as counseling, personal advocacy, court advocacy, client transportation and support services to victims of crimes, including domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and elderly abuse,” Gov. Manchin said.

These VOCA projects have been recommended for funding by the West Virginia Against Violence Committee. These grants will be funded utilizing ARRA funds from the Office for Victims of Crime, the Office of Justice Programs of the U. S. Department of Justice.  These funds are administered by the Division of Criminal Justice Services of the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety.
