CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Gov. Joe Manchin has appointed Anthony Bisaha to serve as the family court judge for the 12th Family Court Circuit covering Mercer and McDowell counties. Bisaha will fill the seat vacated by Omar J. Aboulhosn, who was recently appointed to the 9th Judicial Circuit in Mercer County.
Aboulhosn won election to the Family Court seat in November, but he will not accept that position as a result of this appointment.
“Judge Bisaha will serve the residents of Mercer and McDowell counties with dignity and fairness,” the governor said. “Our family courts are increasingly important in the state court system and Judge Bisaha has proven he is a highly capable and respected judge in this role.”
Bisaha has worked as a public defender for Mercer County and was appointed by Manchin as an interim family court judge in September when the previous judge, Edwin Riley, retired.
“I appreciate the opportunity Gov. Manchin gave me in September, and I look forward to continuing in this role and being able to serve the families of Mercer and McDowell counties through this appointment,” Bisaha said.
Bisaha has practiced law in Mercer County since 1993, including more than 12 years of practice in family law. He has an undergraduate degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Mich.
