
Governor Declares State Of Emergency For Greenbrier And Surrounding Counties Due To Flooding Potential

CHARLESTON, W.VA. -- Gov. Joe Manchin has declared a State of Emergency for Greenbrier and contiguous counties in southern West Virginia due to continuous rainfall, snowmelt and mudslides, which are causing flooding or potential flooding in those areas.
The governor and state emergency management officials are closely monitoring stream levels and have prepared emergency shelters for affected residents. Citizens in immediate danger should call 911 for assistance. To report dangerous conditions or weather-related damage, they should contact their county emergency services center at the following numbers:

The declaration enables the implementation of the state’s Emergency Operations Plan and the activation of the State’s Emergency Operations Center. The state of emergency allows the governor to direct special resources to the affected areas that otherwise would not be available. It remains in effect for 30 days unless extended or rescinded by the governor.
