CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Gov. Joe Manchin has ordered all U.S. and state flags displayed at state facilities lowered to half-staff the entire day of Friday, April 24, in commemoration of the distinguished life and service of Pfc. Tyler Bonnell Stout.
Stout, 25, passed away on April 17, 2009, while stationed on active duty at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Stout was assigned as a member of the B Company, 795th Military Police Battalion.
Prior to his death, Stout had been awarded the National Defense Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and was also awarded the Expert Weapons Qualification Badge for his military service. Pfc. Stout will be posthumously awarded the West Virginia Achievement Ribbon.
His funeral service is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, W.Va.
