 Hawks Nest Golf Course Opens April 19, 2010 

4/7/2010  Hawks Nest Golf Course, a 9-hole course that offers vistas of the New and Gauley River valleys, opens Monday, April 19.  The course has tight mountainside fairways and target greens. It provides an interesting and inexpensive experience for the novice and those that are looking for a change.  The golf course will open daily, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Cart and club rentals are available at the pro shop.

"Hawks Nest Golf Course is being prepared for seasonal reopening on April 19 and will be operated by the Division of Natural Resources until Nov. 1,” according to Ken Caplinger, chief of the West Virginia state park system. “Golf passes for 2010, typically $400 at Hawks Nest, are being reduced to $250 due to the shortened season.  Monday through Thursday greens fee and cart split with two riders is $23 a player. Single rider in cart with green fee is $26.  Friday through Sunday and holiday fees are an additional $3 per round."

Located five miles east of the golf course near the town of Ansted, Hawks Nest State Park features an historic overlook and a 31-room lodge and Canyon Vista Restaurant overlooking the New River and offers casual dining.
