Charleston, W.Va. – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced today that he has awarded $45,942.00 in the Title V Juvenile Justice Community Prevention Grant Program funds. These funds are awarded to units of local government throughout the state to address the growing problem of juvenile delinquency by supporting community prevention efforts.
Governor Tomblin stated the recent award is focused in an area of community collaboration that allows communities to provide their children, families, and institutions with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities necessary to foster a healthy and nurturing environment.
The Division of Justice and Community Services administers this program from funds provided by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The Title V Community Prevention program is based on the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 and reauthorized by Congress under the Incentive Grants for Local Delinquency Prevention Programs Act of 2002.

Funds will be used by the Morgan County Family Prevention Program to build community resources through parenting education, job shadowing and mentoring programs.
