CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Gov. Joe Manchin today released the following statement after learning about The Greenbrier’s decision to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and its pending agreement with Marriott Hotel Services Inc.
“We have been working diligently to keep those good jobs and we will explore every avenue we can to create opportunities at that wonderful resort.
“I am so pleased to hear that the world-class Marriott Corp. is very much interested and I am hopeful that agreement will work out. It will take the effort of everybody involved – employees, unions, management, the local community, the state and all of us working together to continue the legacy of this marquis property.
“I greatly appreciate the coordination among The Greenbrier, CSX and the employees. We must be very open minded and positive going into any negotiations and it will take all of us to make it reality.
“Working together, we can ensure that The Greenbrier will prosper in the future.”
