Statement From The Governor Regarding The Resignation Of WVU President Mike Garrison
6/6/2008
Gov. Joe Manchin this morning released the following statement upon learning about WVU President Mike Garrison’s decision to step down:
“I have always respected Mike Garrison’s commitment to public service, but never more so than today. He has made a very difficult and deeply personal decision based upon what he believes is best for West Virginia University, and he should be commended.
“This has been a trying time for all involved, and President Garrison and the Board of Governors have had hard choices to make. Today’s actions were obviously taken with great care, and it is my sincere hope that all who truly love WVU will appreciate the president’s and the board’s efforts and will work with them in the coming months to continue to move the university forward.”
