 West Virginia Memorial Arrangements for U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd for Thursday

THURSDAY, JULY 1, 2010

5:50 p.m.                                  Aircraft to arrive
                                                130th Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard
                                                 Charleston, West Virginia

7 p.m.                                        Public Procession Starts
                                                (Estimated time for procession start to finish – 60 minutes.)

                                                Starting Location:
                                                 Robert C. Byrd U.S. Courthouse
                                                300 Virginia Street, East

                                                Directions of the Procession:
                                                Virginia Street to Laidley Street to Kanawha Blvd. to State Capitol

NOTE:  Sen. Byrd’s casket will proceed the length of Kanawha Boulevard by horse-drawn cortege. Individuals are invited to join this walking procession. It is about 2.2 miles from the Robert C. Byrd U.S. Courthouse to the state Capitol.

About 8 p.m.                             Ending Location:
                                                 Receiving Ceremony (about 30 minutes)
                                                 West Virginia State Capitol
                                                  Kanawha Blvd.

NOTE: KVRTA will be offering free shuttle services from the state Capitol back to the courthouse for all attendees.

There also will be a fly over during this event. It will be two C-130 Hercules aircraft from the Charleston-based 130th Airlift Wing of the West Virginia Air National Guard.
  
Following the ceremony, the casket will be moved to Capitol Rotunda.

9:00 p.m. Thursday – 9 a.m. Friday            Public viewing in Lower Rotunda of State Capitol

NOTE: Public must enter at the state Capitol West Wing sidewalk enterance.
